How to download FM27 on Steam, Epic and Microsoft Store
SEGA has published platform-specific installation instructions. The process is straightforward, although the wording differs by store.
- Steam: Open the FM27 Steam page, sign in, install the available Launch Preview and select Play Game.
- Epic Games Store: Search for Football Manager 27 Demo, select Get, then install it from your library.

What is playable in the free Launch Preview?
This is not a tiny one-match demonstration. Sports Interactive confirms all FM27 game modes are available, including Shuffle Draft, a new multiplayer mode built around faster competitive sessions.
You can also begin a regular long-term career. That gives the free period value beyond browsing menus: try squad management, transfers, training and in-match decisions across several fixtures.
The new edition introduces Tactical Tweaks and Tactical Effectiveness, with greater emphasis on matching a system to the players available and adjusting tactics during matches. A redesigned interface and upgraded match presentation are central parts of FM27's pitch. The official Steam description also highlights easier navigation and a more immersive football world.
Those announced features are not the same thing as an independent verdict on their quality. The weekend preview is an opportunity to judge the changes for yourself.
Will you lose your career when the free period ends?
Your save can carry over. Sports Interactive explicitly states that careers created during free access can continue into the paid preview and the full game, so you do not need to throw away a promising youth prospect or carefully built squad.
That does not mean game access stays free indefinitely. To continue immediately between November 3 and November 10, you need the relevant paid-preview entitlement or qualifying subscription. Keeping a save is different from keeping the right to launch the software.

Can you play the preview on PS5, Xbox consoles or mobile?
The free promotion concerns the PC/Mac Launch Preview. It does not establish a free PS5 or Xbox console demo, or free mobile access.
FM27 Console and FM27 Mobile have separate November 10 releases, with their own platform requirements. A PC trial does not give you an early console license.
On PC, the Steam listing provides Windows and macOS requirements, so check them before downloading. Steam Deck compatibility is currently unconfirmed on the store page; nobody should promise flawless handheld play without testing.
The fine print: this is still a preview
Sports Interactive calls this a Launch Preview, replacing the older Beta or Advanced Access terminology. It is intended to resemble the finished release more closely, but the developer acknowledges that bugs and glitches may still occur.
Some club and player assets may also be absent because rights-holder approvals are ongoing. Do not assume that every incomplete badge, name or real-world data detail is representative of the final November 10 build.

For returning Football Manager fans, free access makes it possible to test the new interface and tactical systems before spending money. Start with a familiar club and compare transfer workflows, match-day decisions and navigation with your previous edition.
For newcomers, pick a manageable club and explore the rhythm of scouting, training, negotiating transfers and responding to opponents. If multiplayer is your priority, try Shuffle Draft during the trial.
