Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5: Dual Wielding, Console Mods and New Quests

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is available now, and this free patch does considerably more than add a few Edgerunners 2 cosmetics. Players can finally dual-wield selected pistols and revolvers, customize visible cyberware at new Glamdoc shops, and access a curated selection of community mods directly from the in-game menu — including on consoles. Two new quests, additional tarot cards and graphics improvements round out the update.

CD PROJEKT RED released the patch on October 22, 2026 for PC, supported Mac storefront versions, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 is still waiting, as is the Mac App Store edition. Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5: which platforms have it?

The October 22 launch announcement confirms the rollout. The most important distinction is between a feature being announced for a platform and the patch actually being downloadable today.

The new cross-platform mod system is listed for Switch 2, but that does not mean the console already has the update. Wait for CD PROJEKT RED or the platform's download listing to confirm availability. Regional storefront timing can also differ.

How to unlock the new Edgerunners 2 quest

The new side quest, Clampdown, takes place before the events of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime. It is not available the moment you create a new character.

According to the official notes, you must finish The Heist, complete two gigs for Wakako, and then wait for her message. The mission rewards include a five-piece gear set based on King from the anime.

A separate addition, Welcome to Paradise, sends V on a mysterious guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night. Its requirements are different: complete The Heist and reach Street Cred level 15.

These are confirmed unlock conditions rather than a speculative route based on pre-release footage. Players returning with an old save can check whether they already meet the prerequisites before searching the map for new markers.

How dual wielding works in Cyberpunk 2077

The most substantial combat addition is the Double Trouble perk, found in the Cool attribute tree. CD PROJEKT RED says it enables simultaneous use of two Power-category Pistols or Revolvers, supported by four additional related perks.

That limitation matters. The announcement does not say that every handgun, smart pistol, shotgun or iconic weapon can now be used in pairs. Revisit the Cool perk tree, review the supported weapon categories and plan your build accordingly.

For returning players, this finally offers a dedicated two-gun style rather than a purely cinematic look associated with characters such as Jackie Welles. Whether it is stronger than existing pistol builds will depend on balancing, equipment and how players combine the new perks.

Mods on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2: what actually changes?

Update 2.5 introduces Cross-Platform Mod Support powered by mod.io. Players can browse and install a selected library of creator-made mods from inside the game, instead of relying exclusively on PC-only manual modding tools.

This is not permission to run every PC script, executable or unsupported overhaul on a console. CD PROJEKT RED describes the feature as an initial step, with a growing selection over time. Availability and compatibility depend on what the in-game library approves for each platform.

There is an important consequence for trophy hunters: achievements and trophies cannot be earned from a modded save on consoles, according to the patch notes. The load-game screen also marks modded saves with a dedicated icon.

If completing trophies matters to you, keep an unmodded playthrough separate and check your save state before enabling modifications. The same wording should not be extended into a universal claim about every PC achievement system without verifying those platform-specific rules.

Glamdocs, cyberware skins and Night City customization

New Glamdoc vendors specialize in the appearance of V's hand and arm implants, including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. The five locations appear on the map with a spray-paint symbol and offer distinct selections of skins and colors.

CD PROJEKT RED's official update showcase advertises 40 cyberware styles. The customization is visual: it should not be mistaken for a new damage bonus simply because it changes the appearance of your implants.

Other additions include a new HKGN 102.0 FM radio station playing Edgerunners music, new clothing, photo-mode poses and 12 Minor Arcana tarot cards. Scanning one of the new cards begins an extension of the Fool on the Hill questline.

PC graphics changes: DLSS 4.5, FSR and console FOV

For PC players, Update 2.5 adds DLSS 4.5 support, including options for Multi Frame Generation and the newer Transformer model. These features depend on compatible NVIDIA hardware, drivers and the chosen display settings; a maximum advertised generation multiplier is not an all-PC performance guarantee.

AMD's options have changed too: the patch removes FSR 3 upscaling, while listing FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation among the available technologies. Check the actual graphics menu after updating rather than assuming an old preset will still be there.

Console players finally get an FOV slider, while PS5 Pro receives optimization work. The notes also mention ray-tracing performance improvements, revised HDR, Mac MetalFX Frame Interpolation and support for compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D displays.

There are quality-of-life improvements beyond graphics: saves are grouped by playthrough, inventory stashes have new filters, and fixes address issues such as HDR settings not taking effect on PS5.

Is Update 2.5 worth reinstalling Cyberpunk 2077 for?

For a returning player, the new Clampdown quest and dual-wield playstyle provide the most immediate reasons to revisit Night City. The console mod browser could have longer-term impact, especially for players who previously had little access to community customization.

But it is important not to oversell what the patch does. A free update is not a new expansion, mod support is curated rather than unrestricted, and the Switch 2 version has not launched yet. Nor do the official notes establish that every new feature runs equally well on every supported device.

Bottom line: Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 gives players genuinely new combat options, two additional quests and a significant step toward console modding. If you already own the game on a supported platform, the update is free.
